Jira

Cobl connects to Jira so roadmap and delivery answers match what engineering tracks: RFP response, technical memo, bid evaluation.

What is Jira?

Jira is Atlassian's work management tool for software and IT teams. Engineering, product and delivery teams use it to plan and track epics, stories, bugs and releases, often alongside Confluence for documentation. In most companies that sell technical products or services, Jira is where the real status of a feature or a delivery lives.

That status is exactly what a requirements pack asks about. Is this capability available, when does that feature ship, how is a delivery run. The bid team answers from the last roadmap slide they saw, while the actual answer sits in an epic the product team updated last week. A promise made in an RFP response that Jira contradicts becomes a delivery problem after the contract is signed.

Answer roadmap and delivery questions from what engineering is actually tracking

Cobl reads the Jira projects, epics and issues you connect, with their status, descriptions and comments. That context sits in the deal workspace next to the questionnaire response, the technical memo and the proposal, so answers about capability and timing reflect the current state of the work.

The connection works in the other direction too. When a requirements pack surfaces a gap, Cobl can create a Jira issue for it, so the product team sees the request with the deal it came from.

What Jira and Cobl look like on a live deal

A tender arrives with 120 requirements. Eleven concern features that exist only partly or are on the roadmap. The bid manager connects the relevant Jira project to the deal workspace. The bid evaluation marks which requirements are delivered, which are in progress with a target release, and which have no ticket at all. The go/no-go is made on that picture rather than on a guess.

The technical memo answers the in-progress items with the status engineering recorded, worded for an evaluator. The three gaps become Jira issues, linked to the deal, for the product team to review. Nothing is committed in the response that the delivery team has not already planned, and nothing is submitted without review.

Key features of the Cobl Jira integration

Epics, issues and status as context

Cobl reads the projects, epics and issues you connect, including status, descriptions and comments. Capability and timing answers start from what engineering is tracking, not from a slide. Comments often hold the most current answer, because that is where engineers note a slipped date or a changed approach. Reading them keeps the response from relying on a description written months ago.

Requirements checked against the backlog

In the bid evaluation, requirements are set against what exists in Jira. The team sees what is delivered, what is planned and what is missing before it decides to bid. The comparison is shown requirement by requirement, so the bid manager can challenge a match before it shapes the decision. A requirement marked as covered points to the issue that covers it.

Gaps logged as issues

Requirements the product cannot meet yet can be created as Jira issues, with the deal context attached. The product team receives the demand with the buyer who expressed it. Each new issue carries the requirement text and the deal it came from. Over several tenders, the product team sees which gaps keep costing bids and can weigh them against the roadmap with real demand behind them.

Technical answers rewritten for the evaluator

Issue descriptions are written for engineers. The agents rewrite them into language an evaluator can score, drawing on documentation in Confluence, discussion in Slack and the opportunity in Salesforce. The meaning stays exact while the vocabulary changes. Internal names for components and teams are replaced with terms the buyer uses, and each answer stays consistent with what the ticket actually says.

Frequently asked questions

Does Cobl integrate with Jira?

Yes. Cobl connects to Jira so projects, epics and issues can inform bid evaluations, questionnaire responses and technical memos, and so gaps found in a tender can be logged as issues.

What Jira data does Cobl access?

The projects, epics and issues you connect, with their status, descriptions and comments, read through the access the connected account holds. Cobl can also create issues when your team asks it to.

Will Cobl promise roadmap items to a buyer?

Only what your team approves. Cobl drafts from the status recorded in Jira, and every answer about future capability is reviewed before it goes into a submission.

Does it work with Confluence as well?

Yes. Jira holds the status and Confluence holds the documentation. Connected together, they give the response both what exists and how it works.

Can our product team control what is created in Jira?

Yes. Issues are created in the projects you choose, and your existing Jira workflow and permissions apply. More on data handling sits on the security page.
