What's inside

The eight parts of a quote that holds

A table of prices is the easy part. The other sections decide whether the number the client accepts is the number you invoice.

1
Quote details
Quote number, issue date, validity date and who it is for. The validity date protects your price when material or labor costs move.
2
Scope summary
Two or three sentences on what the client asked for and what you will deliver. Every line below refers back to it.
3
Line items
Each item with quantity, unit, unit price and line total. Labor and materials sit on separate lines, so the client sees where the money goes.
4
Optional items
Add-ons priced separately, such as an upgrade or an extra visit. The client can say yes to more without asking for a new quote.
5
Assumptions and exclusions
What the price assumes, like access or quantities, and what it does not include. When the job changes later, this section settles the discussion.
6
Totals and tax
Subtotal, discount, tax and total, each on its own line. The tax rate and what it applies to are stated, not rounded into the price.
7
Payment terms
Deposit, when the balance is due, accepted payment methods and late fees. Written before the work starts, so nobody negotiates them at invoice time.
8
Acceptance
Signature, date and the options chosen. The signed quote becomes the reference for the invoice and for any change order.

Why this template

A price that holds after it is signed

Most quote templates are a table of line items and a total. The trouble comes later, from everything the table does not say.

It says how long the price stands

A validity date and a line on price changes mean a quote accepted three months late does not lock you into last season's costs.

It says what the price assumes

Assumptions and exclusions sit next to the numbers. When the job changes, the quote already shows what was included and what was not.

It lets the client buy more

Optional items priced separately let the client add an upgrade with the same signature, instead of starting a second round of back and forth.

FAQ

Questions about this template

Is the quote template free?

Yes. Download it as it is, in A4 format, without an account. You only create one when you want Cobl to rewrite it with your own items, your prices and your branding.

What is the difference between a quote and an estimate?

A quote is a fixed price for a defined scope, valid until a stated date. An estimate is an approximate cost that can change as the work reveals more. If the client needs a number to approve, send a quote, and list the assumptions it rests on so any change is handled in the open.

How do I quote a price for a job?

Start from the scope, then price labor and materials on separate lines and add your margin. List what the price assumes and what it excludes, set a validity date, state the deposit and payment terms, and offer optional items the client can add. A quote built this way turns into the invoice line for line.

What is the difference between a sales proposal and a quote?

A quote states a price for a product or service. A sales proposal builds the case around that price, covering the client's situation, your recommended solution, proof that it works, and the next step. Proposals persuade; quotes only inform.

Can I use my own branding?

That is the point. Give Cobl your website and it reads your colours, your typography and your tone, then applies them to every page. Upload a past document and it locks onto your real design system.
